Songwriting with Bexley SNAP

Earlier in the year we started working with a new partner, Bexley SNAP.

Bexley SNAP provides clubs and activities for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities between the ages of 8 and 25. We delivered a taster session back in July and two follow-up days of music-making and songwriting.

Each day started with icebreakers and vocal warmups, followed by African drumming with our music leader Phil. Together, we learnt Lin-Manuel Miranda’s song  'We Don't Talk About Bruno' from Encanto with music leader Amy-Rose, creating actions to the lyrics. We then had a jamming session together with instruments and percussion.

In the afternoon, the young people wrote lyrics and created three tracks with our music leaders on the themes of wellbeing, countries of the world and superpowers.

Listen to our tracks from the days here - they’re a great reflection of the fantastic time we had with Bexley SNAP!
