ArtsTrain Academies

 

Our Academies are ArtsTrain’s flagship programme, developed in response to a survey commissioned by the local authority in Bromley where young people stated that they wanted more musical activities. 

ArtsTrain’s focus is on participants creating their own new music, as we believe the process is empowering and enables self-expression. We believe all young people should have the chance to create their own music, of any genre, and feel a sense of pride in sharing their work with others.

Our free songwriting programme is for passionate young artists, songwriters and instrumentalists aged 13-17. 

What we offer:

  • Develop skills in songwriting and performance

  • Write and develop songs in a relaxed, creative space

  • Step outside of your musical comfort zone

  • Meet and collaborate with like-minded musicians / singers

  • Advice and guidance from our industry-experienced music leaders

In sessions, we work on writing music and lyrics, improving confidence in vocals / on your instrument, and developing stage presence. We give our Academies the chance to perform at London-based showcases, festivals and gigs, so there’s plenty of opportunities throughout the year for the young people to share what they’re been working on.

Who can apply 

We’re looking for passionate young creatives who are:

  • 🎤 A musician or singer aged 13–17

  • 📍 Based in Bromley or Bexley

  • 🤝 Willing to collaborate with other musicians, singers, and songwriters

  • 🌟 Serious about your potential as an musician / artist 

  • 🎶 Open to stepping outside your comfort zone and exploring new genres and styles

  • 📅 Able to commit to weekly sessions

Where does it take place?

Our Bromley Academy runs at The Churchill Theatre on Monday evenings (4:30-6:30pm).

Our Bexley Academy runs at The Exchange, Erith on Thursday evenings (5-7pm).

Our ArtsTrain Academies run in Spring and Summer term each year.
