Under the sea with CASPA

This half-term we teamed up once again with our long-term partner and autism charity CASPA, who are based in Bromley.

We held two sessions over the week, each with 25 young people. They were given the choice of learning music production, recording and songwriting with our music leaders Damien and Barbara, or songwriting, jamming and percussion with music leaders Phil, Naomi and Kadi.

It was wonderful to see the young people come with so much enthusiasm for songwriting, and pretty soon we had original lyrics sketched out for sea monsters, cats and elephants. A highlight was a song about a kraken… a first at ArtsTrain!

The project was fantastic for our kids. They love music but often find it hard to engage in activities outside of clubs, so it worked so well with ArtsTrain coming in to make the music with them.

It allowed the kids to express themselves through music, and gave them opportunities to make music, which they might not get otherwise.

Thank you so much. We had lots of positive feedback from parents, as their children went home and couldn’t stop talking about it.
